INSTRUCTOR:    Lydia Suzanne Bryant Ashworth

  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy from McNeese State University.  I completed a Junior Recital at McNeese in the Spring of 2005, and a Senior Recital in Fall of 2006. I have taught for the Campfire Council, Calcasieu Parish School Board Title 1,  McNeese State Prepatory Piano Program, Victory Baptist Academy, and Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy. I am the owner and instructor at  First Octave Piano Studio. I have held the pianist position at Lighthouse Baptist Church in West Lake, Louisiana.  I also assist in my current church, Temple Baptist of New Iberia.  I teach piano, and vocal classes privately, High School piano, High School choir, and Middle School Choir.   I am a member of the following organizations: NAFME- National Association for Music Educators, MTNA-Music Teachers National Association LMTA-Louisiana Music Teachers Association  LAMTA-Lafayette Music Teachers Association  SAI- Sigma Alpha Iota NFMC-National Federation of Music Clubs. I have held the Chairman position for the LCPTA- Lake Charles Piano Teachers Association State Rally in the past.   I hold certifications by Louisiana Music Teachers Association (LMTA), and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).  With these certifications I am able to offer high-school credit to my private students. I am also a certified pharmacy technician.  I have a national license from PTCB and a state license from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. My Goal in teaching is to teach people to love music, not just for this particular time in their life, but for their lifetime.
